Rembrance Day is observed on 11 November, commemorating the armistice signed on that day in 1918. Evolving from Armistice Day, initially observed at Buckingham Palace in 1919, Remembrance Day gained prominence during the Second World War, leading to its adoption by the Commonwealth nations, while the United States chose to observe Veterans Day.
