This website is an initiative of the Mapleton and District Community Association Inc. (MADCA)

MADCA acknowledges the traditional custodians of this part of the Sunshine Coast, the Jinibara people and the people of the coastal and lowland areas, the Kabi Kabi. We pay our respects to the keepers of their stories and traditions, their elders past, present and emerging.

NOTICE: A survey was conducted in August 2023, seeking opinions on parking in the centre of
Mapleton. The questions covered demographics of the respondents, frequency, duration
and location of parking, reasons for parking, and opinions on availability and other issues.

MADCA is now looking for feedback on the options put forward by the community.

Mapleton is renowned for its amazing views to the coast and Obi Obi and Mary River catchments. The village is set between two National Parks that have diverse flora and fauna and a number of spectacular waterfalls. These forests contain a number of walks, as well as horse and mountain bike trails. The Lilyponds Park in the centre of Mapleton features exercise equipment, picnic shelters and children’s playground.

Mapleton enjoys a humid subtropical climate, with a high annual average rainfall of about 1800 mm. Due to its elevation at about 400 m above sea level, it is usually 2-3 degrees Celsius cooler than the lowland areas to its east and west. The wettest month is February and August the driest, but rain falls in all months of the year. While winter nights can be cold, frosts are rare.
